Terms
What we agree to, both ways
Tutoring is paid for before it is delivered, so it is worth being clear about what that buys and what it does not. These terms cover everything sold across the six practices.
Last updated 14 September 2026.
The short version
- Hours are pooled and priced on one published ladder. The more you book in total, the lower the rate on all of it.
- Reschedule free with 24 hours’ notice. New bookings need 48.
- Question bank access is for one student. Sharing or republishing it ends the access.
- We do not promise grades. Nobody honestly can.
- Your consumer rights stand whatever this page says.
Who you are contracting with
Dr Michalis Paediatrics Pty Ltd, ABN 64 688 272 988, trading as Own Your Study and as the six practices named on this site. Where these terms say “we”, that is who is meant.
If the student is under eighteen, the contract is with the parent or guardian who enrols them, not with the student.
What we provide
One-to-one tutoring and academic coaching, delivered online by a specialist matched to the subject and stage. Alongside it: written notes after each lesson, homework where it helps, and — on the IB pathway — question banks and mock papers.
We will provide the service with due care and skill, match a student to somebody qualified for their subject, and tell you promptly if we cannot.
What we do not promise
We do not guarantee a grade, a score, or an admission. Anyone who does is selling something they cannot deliver: the outcome depends on the student’s work, their school, the examiner and the year. What we commit to is the quality of the teaching.
Hours, packages and the ladder
Every instructional hour is priced from one published ladder, and hours pool across everything you book with us. Packages are named points on that ladder rather than separate products — the arithmetic behind each is the table shown on the pricing page.
- Hours are valid for the window stated on each package: two to four months for the hourly packages, longer for summer programs.
- Unused hours can be extended once, for a small administrative fee.
- Unused hours can also be refunded — see refunds and cancellations.
Booking, rescheduling and cancelling
- New bookings need 48 hours’ notice, so a specialist can prepare properly.
- Reschedule free of charge with at least 24 hours’ notice.
- Later than that and the session may draw a partial credit from your hours. Illness and emergencies are not a business model, and we use judgement.
- If a tutor cancels on you, the session is restored in full and finding a replacement slot comes before anything else.
Paying
Prices are shown in the currency of your region and include any tax that applies to you. Australian prices include GST. Australian-dollar payments are taken by Stripe; we never see your card details. Other currencies are paid by direct bank transfer, to the account and reference you are given at checkout.
Every package is currently paid in full at checkout. If instalment plans become available again, this page will say so, along with how they work and what happens if you stop one early — see the refund policy in the meantime.
The portal and your account
Accounts are created by invitation. Keep your sign-in link to yourself — anyone with access to your email can get into the account, which is why we send links rather than ask you to invent another password.
Tell us promptly if you think somebody else has got in.
Question banks, papers and other materials
Access is a licence for one student to use the material for their own study. It is not transferable, and it does not include the right to copy, share, publish, resell or feed it into anything that redistributes it.
We take this seriously because the material is the product. Sharing it ends the access without a refund, and the copyright in it stays ours.
Lesson notes and transcripts about a student belong to that student’s account and are theirs to keep.
Lessons are transcribed
Where the notetaker is used it joins the meeting visibly and produces a text transcript, which is then drafted into notes and reviewed by the tutor. No playable recording is stored. If you would rather it did not join, say so and it will not. There is more detail in the privacy policy.
Behaviour
We expect students and tutors to treat each other decently. We will end an arrangement, and refund what is unused, if somebody is abusive to a tutor — and we would expect you to tell us immediately if a tutor were ever anything other than professional with a child.
If something goes wrong
Tell us. We would rather fix a problem than argue about one, and a conversation is faster than a chargeback for both of us.
Our services come with guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded, including that they are provided with due care and skill and are reasonably fit for the purpose you told us about. If we fail one of those, you may be entitled to a refund or to have the service supplied again, whichever the law provides for. Customers in the UK and the EU keep their own statutory rights.
Beyond those rights, and to the extent the law allows it, what we owe you for any single problem is limited to what you paid us for the thing that went wrong.
Ending it
You can stop at any time. Unused hours are refundable pro rata under the refund policy. We can end an arrangement too, with notice and a refund of anything unused, and immediately in the behaviour case above.
Changes and governing law
If we change these terms we will update this page and the date at the top. A change does not apply retrospectively to hours you have already bought.
These terms are governed by the law of Victoria, Australia, and the courts there have jurisdiction — without taking away any right you have to bring a claim where you live.
